Read our Chairmans Andy Landesberg thoughts on a hugely successful season for the club

As the 2024/25 season comes to a close, I wanted to share with you the highlights of what has been an incredibly successful year for the club.

From our U7s all the way through to our Masters, this season has been filled with pride, achievement, and memorable moments.

Within our non-competitive age groups, many of our teams scored over 100 goals — this is clearly an exciting sign of the talent coming through the ranks and ultimately progressing and fulfilling their potential.

As we move up the age groups, we have seen teams reach finals, with some narrowly missing out and many going on to lift trophies. A particular highlight was our Girls section — for the first time ever, one of our Girls teams brought home a league title, with our U14s winning their league. This is a fantastic milestone for our improving Girls section, and we’re so proud of what they have achieved. We look forward to even more success next season.

Our Boys junior teams also enjoyed a great season, with several sides reaching and winning Spring Plates and or Cup finals. A standout achievement was one of our U18 teams securing their league title — a fantastic accomplishment for both the players and coaches.

Our Masters & Vets teams once again showed that age really is just a number, making it all the way to the prestigious Peter Morrison Final — a brilliant run that inspired us all, with the Masters winning a League and Cup Double.

A huge shout-out must also go to our U14 EJA side, who were deservedly named Junior Team of the Year. They had one of the best seasons we’ve ever seen from a Lions team — going unbeaten to win their EJA League and then being crowned Champions of Champions for their age group. A phenomenal achievement! We are looking forward to even bigger and better things from this talented group of players.

Our U18 EJA team also made their mark this season — lifting the London County Cup and reaching the semi-finals of the Peter Morrison competition, an impressive feat considering they faced men’s teams all along the way. They also finished runners up in the League. Probably one of the most satisfying achievements was the quantity of u-18 Players who made their 1st team or Development team debuts, never looking out of place at the next level.

And finally, onto our First Team — where history was made. On a memorable Bank Holiday Monday, the community turned out in huge numbers to cheer us on, and the players delivered in style. For the first time in our club’s history, we will be playing Step 4 football next season — a monumental achievement for everyone involved. We can’t wait to see even more of you at games next season to be part of this exciting new chapter. From a personal perspective I want to say a huge thank you to my backroom team of Darren Yarlett, Steve Grenfell and Pete Shepherd and of course this very special squad of Players who have taken the Club to the next level. It will be an even more exciting challenge next season.

A huge thank you goes out to all of our managers, players, and parents for your dedication and support this season. This club is your club — and together, we’ve made it a season to remember.

Last but not least I want to share with everybody the fact that Maccabi London Lions FC have a very large array of Players both Male & Female representing Team GB at the upcoming Maccabiah Games. We also have many Coaches and Managers/Assistant Managers participating in many Teams and roles.

This is without question a clear recognition of the ethos, principles, Coaching methods and practices we have in place. This isn’t by luck or chance this is what the Club is all about. Striving for excellence in whatever level of the game we play in. It is clear everybody is proud to wear the badge and those involved are all worthy of their place representing Team GB and of course this amazing Club.

On behalf of the Club we wish everybody huge success, a fantastic experience and of course to come home safely and be ready for an exciting season ahead.

Take a break, enjoy the Summer and let’s all be ready to go do it all again soon. Thank you all for your support and making this Club, Your Club what it is HOME.
Best Wishes
Andy
