Maccabi London FC took a contingent of almost 50 players and fans to Jom Ha Voetbal, the annual tournament held in Amsterdam.

Lining up against opponents from France, Belgium, Germany and the Netherlands, this year’s event hosted more than 800 footballers and a crowd of more than 1,800 on the day.

The current MLFC U10 Blues, who were finalists in the WFL cup earlier in the season, experienced a sporting and cultural weekend with Jews from across the world. Manager Adam Bloch said: “Making kiddush on Friday night surrounded by the team and family was a notable high point and a definite improvement on my usual teamtalks”.

Other highlights included a team tour of the Johann Cruyff Arena and a private viewing of Anne Frank’s House.

The tournament - in its 40th year - saw MLFC U10 Blues and MLFC U11 Whites make it to the Final. Experience overcame youth, with the U11s winning.

U10 manager & Operations Board Member Lee Reuben said: “The boys were a credit to the club. It’s always nice to come home with medals but more importantly they got to experience Jewish culture and a Shabbat together as a team and an overseas team experience that is hard to replicate at this age.

“We are all immensely proud of them and look forward to seeing them continue to represent the club in the future”
