Sporting Swept Aside

Sporting proved no match for an MLFC side who were just too mobile for their hosts. In fact had shooting boots been brought the margin of victory would have been somewhat more emphatic.

To go through the catalogue of missed chances would take an age, but some excellent Maccabi play saw them create a whole host of openings that just needed finishing off. But having scored 5 it seems churlish to moan too much while credit must also be given to the home keeper who performed superbly throughout to protect his goal.

The opener though arrived shortly after the quarter hour, Stanton pouncing on a blocked Hakim shot to buy a yard and coolly slot home after a fine flick from Summers. Hakim doubled the score, cheekily lobbing the stranded keeper from 20 yards. Into the second period and another fine move saw Hakim's shot bring a fine stop from the keeper, but Radford was in the right place to poke home the rebound from close range. Goal four was not long in coming, Stanton again the scorer with a right footed effort into the bottom corner before the scoring was rounded off by Pearl who held off his man and finished low past the keeper with aplomb after Summers once again provided the chance with a superb ball. The big striker had an excellent all round game that was deserving of a goal to his name.

Tough challenges lie ahead in the weeks to come. Shebu come to Rowley in the league this weekend as do Oxhey Jets and Maidenhead Utd in the County Cups in the weesk to follow.
