Despite being outplayed for much of the first half, MLFC dug deep to hang in against superior opponents before capitalising later on as their hosts faded.
In the opening half it was almost one way traffic - that they got to the break only a goal down was down only to some last ditch defending by an overworked defence. But for keeping the side in the game they were rewarded as Broxbourne played the last 30 mins with 10 men when two players, including their star forward, were forced off and they had no more subs. With the numeric advantage and greater fitness they began to get on top, an equaliser via the head of Rayner the least they deserved.
The game finished one apiece before going to penalties. Rayner, Silver and Lazarus converted while Jacobs was unbeaten by the 3 he faced to earn Maccabi the win.
